Would you rather have confidence or competence?
I hear athletes say all the time they want more confidence in order to perform better. I have clients call for sessions to have more self-confidence as they are in crisis with feelings of failure or they have done something wrong.
Is a leader of confidence? A true leader is that of competency. Confidence is the idea of acting as if or portraying that you know what you are doing. Competency is about your true skill, ability, and intelligence. I want a surgeon with competence removing my organ, not one acting as if he is capable. I want to teach my daughter to lead with competency and assertiveness with her knowledge. I want to teach her as a leader she does not have to tell me how capable she is, but that her energy speaks volumes.
At what age does our perception of confidence and competence change and formulate?
